Last winter was very challenging. I was feeling burnt out, uninspired, and my funds were low, reflecting my frustration. I was searching for the solution. What I knew for sure is that I wanted to stay in business for myself and add some new ideas into my existing photography business so that I could continue making my own schedule to be present for my young daughters. I thought about all the people that I knew through the years who seemed really happy in their work and in life, and if there was anyone who stood out as someone who I could see myself learning from. I was looking to feel inspired and excited about something again, and to bring in some cash too. One day, someone wonderful popped into my head: Donna. Donna was in my Women’s Business Networking group and drives a Pink Cadillac as a Mary Kay Sales Director. She is such a positive, supportive, caring woman, and I have always looked up to her! I called her one day, after really putting a lot of thought into this crazy idea for weeks on end. I couldn’t stop thinking about how I could incorporate Mary Kay with my photography business. Donna helped me get started right away! I ordered my kit and a small inventory, and I started telling my friends and family. I felt so sure about this idea, that even when a few key people were not so excited for me, it only served to fuel my fire. I immediately loved the interactions I started having with my friends- helping them look and feel beautiful, teaching them how to take better care of their skin, and playing with makeup. I took before and after photos, and made a lot of women feel great about themselves. I had been using and loving the products myself for many years, so it was easy to just pass along my positive experience. Donna helped me become more familiar with the whole product line, so I would feel knowledgeable and helpful.
Now I am earning great money and having fun! I am able to control my schedule so I can run my other business and take care of my family. I want to grow a team of consultants and show them how to run their own business too. Being self employed is a wonderful way to have flexibility in life, so that I can enjoy my day and spend more time with the people I love. I love to help people feel good about themselves in a true and honest way, and I feel like I’m able to do that by showing women simple ways to feel more beautiful and confident! I am so excited to share the opportunity and help other women succeed by doing Mary Kay themselves. The many success stories are so inspiring! …thousands of women driving free cars, going on wonderful trips, earning prizes, and big paychecks thanks to Mary Kay. I love showing my young daughters how to run a business and to be enthusiastic about work, instead of just “getting a job” or depending on someone else to make them happy.
In the last year, I have had so much fun! I earned a nice secondary income, and even had enough money to pay for a dream trip for our family to Disney World! Last winter, that idea was impossible. Becoming a Mary Kay consultant has made a lot of things better in my life. The positive encouragement from Donna and other inspiring leaders at my Mary Kay meetings, the fun interaction with my wonderful customers, the learning and growing as I grow as an expert of skin care and makeup, helping women smile and feel gorgeous and confident, the income, the incentives (I have won countless awesome prizes!), and the “sky is the limit!” excitement of future possibilities! (The Pink Cadillac!) I have also become more inspired and creative as a photographer again and have noticed a lot more business as a result of all the networking I’ve been doing. My enthusiasm is carrying across to all aspects of my life which makes me a happier mom too. I am so happy and grateful that I am a Mary Kay Consultant and I’m so excited to see what the future brings!
